this is a narration from fadail-ul-quran, qasim bin salam

and he has noted it in vol2, page 135, narration 578

حدثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم، عن أيوب، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، قال: لا يقولن أحدكم قد أخذت القرآن كله، وما يدريه ما كله؟ قد ذهب منه قرآن كثير، ولكن ليقل: قد أخذت منه ما ظهر.

ibn umar said that no one should say that i have taken complete quran; what do you know was the complete one? no doubt, most of it has lost; so say; no doubt i got what has appeared

all the narrators are thiqa

ibn umar, is sahabi

nafi’i, his slave of ibn umar, ibn hajar said

[743] ع الستة نافع الفقيه مولى بن عمر

again, a narrator of sihah-e-sitta

ayub, his name is ayub bin abi tamimia

ibn hajar noted him in tehzeeb

[733] ع الستة أيوب بن أبي تميمة كيسان السختياني أبو بكر البصري

so, he is a narrator of sihah-e-sitta

ismail bin ibrahim bin maqsam asadi, ibn hajar mentioned him like

[513] ع الستة إسماعيل بن إبراهيم بن مقسم الأسدي

he is again a narrator of sihah-e-sitta

and as regards to abu ubaid qasim bin salam, ibn hajar said

[574] ز د البخاري في جزء القراءة وأبي داود القاسم بن سلام البغدادي أبو عبيد الفقيه القاضي صاحب التصانيف

he is thiqa imam, qazi, faqih, author of books

now, let us see as to what is the meaning of

ذهب منه قرآن كثير

for this, we see another narration, from sahih al-bukhar, book fadail of quran, chapter jama’a-ul-quran,hadeeth 4701

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ عُمَرَ أَتَانِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْقَتْلَ قَدْ اسْتَحَرَّ يَوْمَ الْيَمَامَةِ بِقُرَّاءِ الْقُرْآنِ وَإِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَسْتَحِرَّ الْقَتْلُ بِالْقُرَّاءِ https://ahlubait.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpبِالْمَوَاطِنِ فَيَذْهَبَ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ

from the online version, the translation is

Abu Bakr then said (to me), “Umar has come to me and said: “Casualties were heavy among the Qurra’ of the! Qur’an (i.e. those who knew the Quran by heart) on the day of the Battle of Yalmama, and I am afraid that more heavy casualties may take place among the Qurra’ on other battlefields, whereby a large part of the Qur’an may be lost.
