TEN GLORIES OF MOLA ALI asws BY IBN ABBASS

( أخبرنا ) ميمون بن المثنى ( 6 ) ، قال : حدثنا الوضاح وهو

أبو عوانة ( 1 ) قال : حدثنا ابوبلج بن ابي سليم ( 2 ) ، قال : حدثنا عمرو بن ميمونة ( 3 ) قال : انى لجالس إلى ابن عباس إذ أتاه تسعة رهط فقالوا : يا ابن عباس اما ان تقوم معنا ، واما ان تخلو بنا بين هؤلاء .
فقال ابن عباس : بل أنا أقوم معكم . قال : وهو يومئذ صحيح قبل أن يعمى ( 4 ) ، قال : فانتدؤا فتحدثوا فلا ندري ما قالوا ، قال : فجاء وهو ينفض ثوبه وهو يقول : أف وتف وقعوا في رجل له بضع عشر ( 5 ) وقعوا في رجل قال له رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : لابعثن رجلا يحب الله ورسوله لا يخزيه الله أبدا ،
قال : فاستشرف لها من استشرف فقال : أين ابن أبي طالب ؟ قيل : هو في الرحى يطحن ، قال : وما كان احدكم ليطحن ، قال : فجاء وهو أرمد لا يكاد يبصر ، فتفل ( 6 ) في عينيه

ثم هز الراية ثلاثا فدفعها إليه ، وجاء علي بصفية بنت حي ( 1 ) ، وبعث ابا بكر بسورة التوبة ، وبعث عليا خلفه فأخذها منه ، فقال : لا يذهب بها إلا رجل مني وأنا منه . قال : وقال لبني عمه : ايكم يواليني في الدنيا والآخرة ، فأبوا . قال : وعلي معهم جالس فقال علي : أنا أواليك في الدنيا والآخرة .
قال : وكان أول من اسلم من الناس بعد خديجة . قال : واخذ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثوبه فوضعه على علي وفاطمة وحسن وحسين فقال : ( إنما يريد الله ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت ويطهركم تطهيرا ) . قال : وشرى علي نفسه فلبس ثوب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم نام مكانه ،
قال : وكان المشركون يرمون رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، فجاء أبو بكر وعلي نائم ، قال : وابو بكر يحسبه انه نبي الله ، قال : فقال له علي : ان نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قد انطلق نحو بئر ميمونة ( 2 ) فادركه ، قال : فانطلق أبو بكر فدخل معه الغار .

قال : وجعل علي يرمى بالحجارة كما كان يرمى نبي الله وهو يتضور ( 3 ) وقد لف رأسه في الثوب لا يخرجه حتى أصبح ، ثم كشف عن رأسه فقالوا : انك للئيم كان صاحبك نرميه فلا يتضور وأنت تتضور وقد استنكرنا ذلك . قال : وخرج بالناس في غزوة تبوك ، قال : فقال له علي : أخرج معك ؟ فقال له نبي الله :

لا ، فبكى علي ، فقال له : أما ترضى ان تكون مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا انك لست بنبي ، انه لا ينبغي ان اذهب إلا وانت خليفتي .
وقال له رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : انت ولي كل مؤمن بعدي ( 1 ) .
قال : وسد ابواب المسجد غير باب علي ، قال : فقال : فيدخل المسجد جنبا وهو طريقه ليس له طريق غيره .
قال : وقال : من كنت مولاه فان مولاه علي .

قال : وأخبرنا الله عزوجل في القرآن انه قد رضى عن اصحاب الشجرة فعلم ما في قلوبهم ( 2 ) فهل حدثنا انه سخط عليهم بعده .

قال : وقال نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعمر حين قال : ايذن لي فأضرب عنقه ، قال : أو كنت فاعلا وما يدريك لعل الله قد اطلع على اهل بدر ، فقال : اعملوا ما شئتم ( 3 )

amr bin maimon narrates that I was sitting with Abdullah bin abbass (at that time, he did not turn blind)

then came nine groups of people to him and told him to go along with them or that they (other people) should leave them alone with him. He said that he would go along with them. Then those people talked to him, which I do not know. When he returned, he was angry; and was saying; uff be to them who are speaking against a man who had ten characteristics specific to him; they are speaking against a man for whom holy prophet asws said

“I will send him tomorrow who is the lover of allah and his prophet asws and he is the beloved of allah and holy prophet, and allah will not reduce his status”
many people came to prophet but prophet asked where is ali?

He was told that he is grinding the mill

prophet said
“was there no one amongst you who could have done this”

then he called ali asws; he eyes were having congestion to the extent that he could not see easily; prophet prayed for his eyes; and then shook the flag thrice and handed him to ali asws; and came back along with safia.

also, prophet sent abu bakr along with surat-e-toubah to meccans, and then sent ali and told him to take the surat from him; and said
“this can be taken by him who is from me; and I am from him”

and prophet told decendents of his uncles; “who will be my companion in this world and the world hereafter?”
ali was sitting there and replied
“me”
and prophet said
“you will be my companion in this world and the world hereafter”

also, prophet combined ali, Fatima, hassan, and Hussein; and said
“o allah! They are my ahlubait, keep away dirtiness away from them; and keep them clean as cleanliness should be”

ali was the first person who embraced islam after khadija; and he is the one who wore the dress of prophet and slept at his place in such a way that people thought that he is the prophet. And when abu bakr called him “ya rasool allah” he told him that he had went to chah-e-maimoon; and then abu bakr followed him and entered the cave. And kuffar threw stone at ali for whole night

and when prophet was leaving alongwith muslim for tabook; ali said “I will accompany you” prophet said “no” ali wept at this; and prophet then said “are you not happy with this that you have the same relevance to me as haroon had with musa, except that you are not prophet afterwards” then he said “you are the wali of momins after me”.

prophet closed down all the doors to the mosque except ali’s. and he would come by that door.

and he said that ali is wali of whom I am wali

ibn abbas said that quran tells us that allah is pleased with companions of tree; but did allah say anything regarding unpleasure about them afterwards?
when umar tried to kill hatib in anger; prophet told him “o son of khitab! Do you not know that allah is is aware of people of badr, and said whatever you do, I have forgiven you”

albani says: sahih

he quoted with sanad of nisai, however, he did not write the complete matn of it

[narration 1188]

he then mentioned the matan under narration 1351, but did not give opinion there

3- (footnotes of) kitab misbah us sunnah, from baghwi

ibn hajar mentioned it there when he talked of the hadeeth that none can go to mosque in state of janabat, and said that the narration mentioned by tirmidhi is from atiya aufi, but he said that it comes with different isnaad from many sahaba, and then he said

no doubt, it comes with a lengthy narration from ibn abbass, narrated by tabarani and ahmad with a JAYYAD (great) sanad

haithmi says; narrated by ahmad and tabarani in maujam kabeer and oasat, and narrators of ahmad are narrators of sahih except abu balaj, he is thiqa though relaxed/leniant.
