Some time back, We just mentioned this narration

Shiekh Albani mentions

Abu Rizin said that I saw abu Huraira hitting his head with his hand  and saying

O people of Iraq! You think that I lie upon holy Prophet asws so that it gets easy for you; I testify that I heard Prophet asws say that when a dog licks a vessel , wash it 7 times

[Sahih ibn Maja, Albani, vol 1, page 129, book of Taharat, chapter When dog licks washing the utensil]

Now, Nawasib could not digest the truth, and they replied

one of them said:-

Just see how stupid the shias are when it comes to analyze narrations.

This stupidity can be seen by analyzing that who were the ones being addressed by hz abu huraira(ra), the were some people of Iraq. The place where prophet(saw) said the horn of satan will appear, the place of fitna.

The people who were infected by the teachings of Adullah ibn saba, the people who Martyred hz hussain(ra) etc etc…

Now if such people doesn’t agrees with what hz abu huraira(ra) said to them or considered him a liar , how on earth does it affect the credibility of hz abu huraira(ra) ?

And this was then followed by another Nasibi, and he said

We have great surprise for that rafida – slave of creation, not only Abu Huraira, but also other well known companion was accused in lie by those people.
From one of the most authentic shias sources, Nahjul Balagha we read:

Sermon 70

In condemnation of the people of Iraq
Now then, O ‘ people(1) of iraq! You are like the pregnant woman who, on completion of the period of pregnancy delivers a dead child and her husband is also dead and her period of widowhood is long while only remote relation inherits her. By Allah, I did not come to you of my own accord. I came to you by force of circumstances. I have come to know that you say `Ali speaks lie.May Allah fight you! Against whom do I speak lie? Whether against Allah? But I am the first to have believed in him. Whether against His Prophet? But I am the first who testified to him. Certainly not. By Allah it was a way of expression which you failed to appreciate, and you were not capable of it. Woe to you. I am giving out these measures of nice expression free of any cost. I wish there were vessels good enough to hold them.

http://www.nahjulbalagha.org/SermonDetail.php?Sermon=70

Now, as regards to his surprise for me
Why should it be a surprise since we know that many sahaba were jealoused from Mola Ali asws
And they insulted Him, and even fought Him
This is accepted by their greats like ibn Taimiyya and Dhabi

Rather ibn Taimiyya went on to say

No doubt, it is known that a lot of Sahaba slandered ali asws

You can read this here in detail

But what was the status of those people?

No doubt, holy Prophet said that whosoever insults Ali, he insults Me

And We do know that holy Prophet said that none will love Ali but a Momin
and none will have grudge for him but a Hypocrite

now, you can well see what was the status of those people who were accusing Imam Ali asws

Inshallah, I ll present to you proofs from sunni books to show you the credibility of abu Huraira
But at the present, I ll present quotes from the two nawasib to show you their hypocrisy

NASIBI 1 said

This stupidity can be seen by analyzing that who were the ones being addressed by hz abu huraira(ra), the were some people of Iraq. The place where prophet(saw) said the horn of satan will appear, the place of fitna.

NASIBI 2 quotes the sermon

Sermon 70

In condemnation of the people of Iraq

ya Nawasib! first decide the definition of stupidity for yourselves and then say what you have to ……………….

Anyways

Since nawasib talked about the fact that since others are also accused of lies, so this should not affect the credibility of abu Huraira, so let us actually see if abu Huraira was actually credible ?

Let us see from sahih al Bukhari

We find in sahih al bukhari, chapter of “supporting the family”

Volume 7, Book 64, Number 268:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

“The Prophet said, ‘The best alms is that which is given when one is rich, and a giving hand is better than a taking one, and you should start first to support your dependents.’ A wife says, ‘You should either provide me with food or divorce me.’ A slave says, ‘Give me food and enjoy my service.” A son says, “Give me food; to whom do you leave me?” The people said, “O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah’s Apostle ?” He said, “No, it is from my own self.”

http://www.sultan.org/books/bukhari/064.htm

Now see what he said

“The Prophet said,

Now, be honest to yourselves, and think if there is a person who says “The Prophet said,

And he is deemed credible in the eyes of people of that era
would they ask him ever

“O Abu Huraira! Did you hear that from Allah’s Apostle ?”

of course, NO

And rightly so when the answer which comes from the man supports their doubts about his credibility

“No, it is from my own self.”

That is the main reason why people did counter checked his arguments,
Let us see another sahih example

This is from sahih ul Muslim

Book 010, Number 3823:
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who kept a dog except one meant for watching the herd, or for hunting or for watching the fields. he lost two qirat of reward every day. Zuhri said: The words of Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) were conveyed to Ibn Umar who said: May Allah have mercy upon Abu Huraira; he owned a field.

The question is why people asked ibn Umar about it?
And why ibn Umar said that may allah have mercy on him, and that he has a field

The reason is that ibn Umar himself quoted a hadeeth in sahih ul bukhari

Volume 7, Book 67, Number 390:

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Umar:

I heard the Prophet saying, “If someone keeps a dog neither for hunting, nor for guarding livestock, the reward (for his good deeds) will be reduced by two Qirats per day.”

This hadith allows people to keep dogs only for TWO purposes:

1. Guarding livestock

2. Hunting

And what did abu Huraira say?

He said

He who kept a dog except one meant for watching the herd, or for hunting or for watching the fields.

Do you now understand why ibn Umar say may Allah have mercy on him?

Continuing with the credibility of abu Huraria in his era, and whether he was considered so by the great sahaba (as per sunnis)

Let us pay attention to this incident

This incident is quoted in Uqd ul Fareed; vol 1,

Now, let us see the incident

Umar called for abu Huraria and said to him: “You know well that I had appointed you as wali of Bahrain and you were barefooted and now came to my ears that you have bought horses for one thousand and six hundred dinars.

abu Huraria said: “We had some horses that bore and gifts that cumulated”.

The caliph said: “I counted your livelihood and income and I found that it is over than yours and you have to return it”.

abu Huraria said: “You can’t do that”.

Umar said: “Yes, I can and I will beat you on the back.” Then umar got up and beat him with his stick until he wounded him and said to him: “Pay the money back.”

abu Huraria said: “Exempt me for the sake of Allah.”

Umar said: “That would be if it was halal and that you paid it back obediently. Have you come from the farthest lap of Bahrain with people’s taxes to be in your pocket, neither for Allah nor for the Muslims? Omayma begot you just to graze donkeys.”

[Uqd ul Fareed, vol 1, page 44,printed by darulkutub ilmia, Beirut]

Ahmad bin Mohammad andalsi further says

abu Huraria said:

“When umar deposed me in Bahrain, he said to me: “O enemy of Allah and enemy of His Qur’an, did you steal the wealth of the Muslims?”

abu huraria said: “I am not an enemy of Allah or His book, but I am an enemy of your enemies. I did not steal the wealth of the Muslims.

umar said: “Then how did you get ten thousand dinars?”

He said: “We had some horses that bore, gifts that cumulated and shares that multiplied.”

umar took the money from me but when I offered the Fajr (dawn) prayer, I asked Allah to forgive him.”

[Same source, page 44-45]

Let us first see the scans, so that none can doubt it, and then we continue with our remarks

Is this what is called credibility?

Is this how you call a credible man

“O enemy of Allah and enemy of His Qur’an, did you steal the wealth of the Muslims?”

And you investigate his incomes and expenditure, take the money from him, rather beat him as well………..

is this how nawasib define credibility???

if so, then we find a sahih report where umar ACCEPTED the CREDIBILITY OF ABU HURAIRA

Let us see that now from Mustadakar imam Hakim with Talkhees of Dhabi

.

.
[mustadarak imam hakim with talkes of dhabi, vol 3,page 191]

abu Huraria said, Umar said to me: O enemy of Allah and enemy of Islam! you betrayed the money of Allah . He said: I said: I am not an enemy of Allah and not an enemy of Islam but an enemy to whoever is an enemy of them and I did not betray the money of Allah but they were the costs for a camel and spears added together. He said: return it and I said to him the same thing again. He said: he fined me 12 000 . He said: then I stood up for midday prayer and said: O Allah, forgive the commander of the faithful. And what was after that is that he wanted me to work and I didn’t do it. Then he said: not and Yusuf did ask to work and he was better than you. Then I said: verily Yusuf is a prophet son of a prophet son of a prophet son of a prophet and I am son of Umaymah and I fear three and two. He said: don’t you say five? I said: no. He said: what are they? I said: I fear that I speak without knowledge, and issue ruling without knowledge, and that my back gets beaten , and that my representation/arguments gets insulted .

Hakim says: sahih on the conditions of Sheikhain but not written

Dhabi says: sahih on the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim

We have talked about the fact that sunni scholars said that abu huraira is a mudallis,

Let us see some proofs for it

This is from sahih al bukhari

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 541:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

When we conquered Khaibar, we gained neither gold nor silver as booty, but we gained cows, camels, goods and gardens. Then we departed with Allah’s Apostle to the valley of Al-Qira, and at that time Allah’s Apostle had a slave called Mid’am who had been presented to him by one of Banu Ad-Dibbab. While the slave was dismounting the saddle of Allah’s Apostle an arrow the thrower of which was unknown, came and hit him. The people said, “Congratulations to him for the martyrdom.” Allah’s Apostle said, “No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the sheet (of cloth) which he had taken (illegally) on the day of Khaibar from the booty before the distribution of the booty, has become a flame of Fire burning him.” On hearing that, a man brought one or two leather straps of shoes to the Prophet and said, “These are things I took (illegally).” On that Allah’s Apostle said, “This is a strap, or these are two straps of Fire.”

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 515:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

We witnessed (the battle of) Khaibar.
Allah’s Apostle said about one of those who were with him and who claimed to be a Muslim. “This (man) is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire.” When the battle started, that fellow fought so violently and bravely that he received plenty of wounds. Some of the people were about to doubt (the Prophet’s statement), but the man, feeling the pain of his wounds, put his hand into his quiver and took out of it, some arrows with which he slaughtered himself (i.e. committed suicide). Then some men amongst the Muslims came hurriedly and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Allah has made your statement true so-and-so has committed suicide. “The Prophet said, “O so-and-so! Get up and make an announcement that none but a believer will enter Paradise and that Allah may support the religion with an unchaste (evil) wicked man.

Interesting, mainly so because this is in itself an issue if he was there in khaiber

As we see that there are reports that he accepted islam after khaiber was over

[al-Bidaya wa Nihaya, urdu version published by Nafees academy, vol 8, page 138, Incidents of 59 hijri]

But more interesting is the fact that he did not keep himself limited to khaiber

He loved talking about incidents from the times older than these

Like we see

[Mustadarak, imam Hakim, with Talkees Dhabi, vol 4, page 490-491]
http://islamport.com/d/1/mtn/1/22/491.html

abu Huraira Narrated:

I entered
upon Ruqayyah the daughter of the Prophet asws the wife of Uthman, and in her hand was a comb. She said: The Prophet asws had just left from here a moment ago. I combed his hair. He said to me: “How do you find Abu Abdullah (Uthman)?” I said: “Good.” He said: “Honour him, as he is most in similitude to me in akhlaq.”

Hakim says : This hadeeth is sahih in isnad, but doubtful in matan, as Ruqayyah died in the third year of Hijrah at the time of the victory in Badr, and abu huraira became Muslim after the victory of Khaybar, Allah knows best, and I have mentioned it with another isnad.

Dhabi says: sahih but with rejected matan

And then Hakim adds another chain as well so that none can doubt the authenticity of chain in hadeeth 6855

All the narrators are thiqa, so they are not going to lie;and there is a supporting chain as well

Even this incident is early, he loved narrating from times even before that

Here we see in sahih muslim

Book 001, Number 0037:

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah said to his uncle at the time of his death
: Make a profession of it that there is no god but Allah and I will bear testimony (of your being a Muslim) on the Day of judgment. But he (Abu Talib) refused to do so. Then Allah revealed this verse:

Verily thou canst not guide to the right path whom thou lovest. And it is Allah Who guideth whom He will and He knoweth best who are the guided” (xxviii. 56).

so, We see him talking of the times before migration to madina;

but hold on

He talked of incidents before this even

Another example from sahih al bukhari

Volume 4, Book 51, Number 16:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

When Allah revealed the Verse: “Warn your nearest kinsmen,” Allah’s Apostle got up and said, “O people of Quraish (or said similar words)! Buy (i.e. save) yourselves (from the Hellfire) as I cannot save you from Allah’s Punishment; O Bani Abd Manaf! I cannot save you from Allah’s Punishment, O Safiya, the Aunt of Allah’s Apostle! I cannot save you from Allah’s Punishment; O Fatima bint Muhammad! Ask me anything from my wealth, but I cannot save you from Allah’s Punishment.”

Now, he is talking of Dhul Asheera, when for the first time holy Prophet asws talked to his relatives about his prophethood

But abu Huraira knows it all

In another example we see

From sahih al muslim

Book 039, Number 6718:

Abu Huraira reported that Abu Jahl asked (people) whether Mubammad placed his face (on the ground) in their presence
. It was said to him: Yes. He said: By Lit and Uzza. If I were to see him do that, I would trample his neck, or I would beamear his face with dust. He came to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as he was engaged in prayer and thought of trampling his neck (and the people say) that he came near him but turned upon his heels and tried to repulse something with his hands. It was said to him: What is the matter with you? He said: There is between me and him a ditch of fire and terror and wings. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace he upon him) said: If he were to come near me the angels would have torn him to pieces. Then Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse- (the narrator) said: We do not whether it is the hadith transmitted te Abu Huraira or something conveyed to him from another source:” Nay, man is surely inordinate, because he looks upon himself as self-sufficient. Surely to thy Lord is the return. Hast thou seen him who forbids a servant when he prays? Seest thou if he is on the right way, or enjoins observance of piety? Seest thou if he [Abu Jah]] denies and turns away? Knowest he not that Allah sees? Nay. if he desists not, We will seize him by the forelock-a lying, sinful forelock. Then let him summon his council. We will summon the guards of the Hell. Nay! Obey not thou him” (Icvi. 6-19). (Rather prostrate thyself.) Ubaidullah made this addition: It was after this that (prostration) was enjoined upon and Ibn Abd al-Ala made this addition that by Nadia he meant his people.

Wow, he met abu Jahal even; surprising, isnt it?

Now, we see that this credible guy was categorically stopped by umar from narrating ahadeeth

we find that umar told him

.

[al Bidaya wa Nihaya, vol 8, page 114-115]

another link

Saib bin Yazeed said that we heard Umar saying that he told abu Huraira that

Stop narrating from holy Prophet or I ll send you to the land of Duus (home town of abu huraira) and Kaab said that : Stop narrating from the first or I ll send you to the land of monkeys

Dhabi mentioned this narration in his Sair ul Aalam Nabala,
[vol 2, page 600-601]

and sheikh Shoaib Arnawit said

This sanad is sahih
[vol 2, page 601 footnote no. 1]

But that is not all

we further find in al-Bidaya and Sair ul Aalam

[al Bidaya, vol 8, page 115]

[Sair ul Aalam nabala, vol 2, page 601]

abu Huraira said that I narrated ahadeeth, had I narrated them in the era of umar, he would have broken my head

Sheikh Shoaib says narrators are Thiqa, but with broken chain
[vol 2, page 601 footnote no. 2]

But this is not surprising either that he would hide ahadeeth

Abu huraira also said in sahih al bukhari

Volume 1, Book 3, Number 121:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allah’s Apostle . I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my pharynx (throat) would be cut (i.e. killed).

similarly, abu Huraira said

abu Salma said that Se said that we did not have the guts to say “holy Prophet asws said” till Umar died
[al Bidaya, vol 8, page 115]

and he also said

[al Bidaya wa Nihaya, vol 8, page 115]

abu Huraira said: I will narrate ahadeeth and Umar is alive? by God! I am sure that then there would be lash on my back

Umar’s doubt about credibility of abu huraira are not new, rather we see in sahih muslim, I am quoting a part of it

Book 001, Number 0050:

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira: We were sitting around the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Bakr and Umar were also there among the audience. In the meanwhile the Messenger of Allah got up and left us, He delayed in coming back to us, which caused anxiety that he might be attacked by some enemy when we were not with him; so being alarmed we got up. I was the first to be alarmed. I, therefore, went out to look for the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) and came to a garden belonging to the Banu an-Najjar, a section of the Ansar went round it looking for a gate but failed to find one. Seeing a rabi’ (i. e. streamlet) flowing into the garden from a well outside, drew myself together, like a fox, and slinked into (the place) where God’s Messenger was. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Is it Abu Huraira? I (Abu Huraira) replied: Yes, Messenger of Allah. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What is the matter with you? replied: You were amongst us but got up and went away and delayed for a time, so fearing that you might be attacked by some enemy when we were not with you, we became alarmed. I was the first to be alarmed. So when I came to this garden, I drew myself together as a fox does, and these people are following me. He addressed me as Abu Huraira and gave me his sandals and said: Take away these sandals of mine, and when you meet anyone outside this garden who testifies that there is no god but Allah, being assured of it in his heart, gladden him by announcing that he shall go to Paradise. Now the first one I met was Umar. He asked: What are these sandals, Abu Huraira? I replied: These are the sandals of the Messenger of Allah with which he has sent me to gladden anyone I meet who testifies that there is no god but Allah, being assured of it in his heart, with the announcement that he would go to Paradise. Thereupon ‘Umar struck me on the breast and I fell on my back. He then said: Go back, Abu Huraira, So I returned to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), and was about to break into tears. ‘Umar followed me closely and there he was behind me. The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be on him) said: What is the matter with you, Abu Huraira? I said: I happened to meet ‘Umar and conveyed to him the message with which you sent me. He struck me on my breast which made me fall down upon my back and ordered me to go back. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: What prompted you to do this, ‘Umar? He said: Messenger of Allah, my mother and father be sacrificed to thee, did you send Abu Huraira with your sandals to gladden anyone he met and who testified that there is no god but Allah, and being assured of it in his heart, with the tidings that he would go to Paradise? He said: Yes.

so, Umar’s doubt about his credibility were even there in the life time of holy Prophet asws as is evident that he hit him, and even counter checked from the holy Prophet asws

so, as per Umar = abu Huraira is not credible

as per Nawasib= he is credible

great

so, let us show you abu Huraira self contradicting

let us quote a hadeeth from sahih al muslim

Book 006, Number 2451:

Abu Bakr (he is Abu Bakr b. Abd al-Rahman b. Harith) reported: I heard Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) narrating that he who is overtaken by dawn in a state of seminal emission should not observe fast. I made a mention of it to ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Harith (i. e. to his father) but he denied it. ‘Abd al-Rahman went and I also went along with him till we came to’A’isha and Umm Salama (Allah be pleased with both of them) and Abd al-Rahman asked them about it. Both of them said: (At times it so happened) that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) woke up in the morning in a state of junub (but without seminal emission in a dream) and observed fast He (the narrator) said: We then proceeded till we went to Marwan and Abd al-Rahman made a mention of it to him. Upon this Marwan said: I stress upon you (with an oath) that you better go to Abu Huraira and refer to him what is said about it. So we came to Abu Huraira and Abu Bakr had been with us throughout and ‘Abd al-Rahman made a mention of it to him, whereupon Abu Huraira said: Did they (the two wives of the Holy Prophet) tell you this? He replied: Yes Upon this (Abu Huraira) said: They have better knowledge.
Abu Huraira then attributed that what was said about it to Fadl b. ‘Abbas and said: I heard it from Fadl and not from the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him). Abu Huraira then retracted from what he used to say about it. Ibn Juraij (one of the narrators) reported: I asked ‘Abd al-Malik, if they (the two wives) said (made the statement) in regard to Ramadan, whereupon he said: It was so, and he (the Holy Prophet) (woke up in the) morning in a state of junub which was not due to the wet dream and then observed fast.

Please keep in mind this saying

Upon this (Abu Huraira) said: They have better knowledge

and do not forget it

Now, we come to another narration

it is from Mustadarak, imam Hakim

[mustadarak, imam hakim with talkees of dhabi, vol 5, page 241]

Ayesha called on abu Huraira then said to him o abu Huraira what are these narrations that you report to us that you narrate in them about the Prophet (s) did you hear other than what we heard and did you see other than what we saw?
He said: o Mother! the mirror and the eyeliner applicator used to keep you busy from Allah’s prophet (s) and fixing / beautifying yourself for the Prophet (s), and as regards to me by Allah nothing used to keep me busy from him.

Hakim says sahih but was not written
Dhabi says sahih

and this narration is also mentioned in Sair ul aalam nabala, vol 2, page 604,
and in the footnotes, sheikh Shoaib Arnawit says

Narrators are Thiqa/trustworthy, Hafiz (ibn hajar) discussed it in al Asaba, and attributed the sanad to ibn Saad,
and it is in Tareekh ibn Asaakar….
and discussed ibn Kather in al Bidaya… from the path of abu Qasim Baghwi…..
and narrated Hakim in Mustadarak….
and he said that narration is Sahih in sanad and Dhabi agreed.

now, we can see the credibility and integrity of this man,
He gave a fatwa, and when umm Salma, Ayesha caught him
He got on to back foot, and say that they are more knowledgeable

And when Ayesha asked him what is this all he is narrating
He says that you were always busy with the make up
and I was busy with ahadeeth; and so i know what you know not

Great, so we have the right to ask abu huraira,

Who is more knowledgalbe
