Let us see an authentic Narration in This regard

Ayesha says that once she asked Holy Prophet asws about the verse {[Shakir] And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return (mominoon/60),}. She said: O Prophet asws! Does this verse speak of one who steals, does zina and drinks wine? Upon this Holy Prophet said: No, it speaks of one who offers prayers, fasts, and gives charity and he is having fear of Allah

{Molvi Zafar Iqbal  says narration is Sahih as per Albany}

[Musnad Ahmad, urdu, vol 11, page 345]

Sheikh Hamza says chain is Sahih

[Musnad Ahmad with research of sheikh Ahmad Shakir and sheikh Hamza, vol 17, page 555]

Sheikh Shoaib al-Arnawut says that Chain is Sahih, Narrators are trustworthy and that of Sheikhain except for Hisham bin Saeed [Musnad Ahmad, 42/156]

One may argue that the verse can have different interpretations, however, any intellectual would agree that the Class & Quality of a Moffasir (Scholar who explains Quran) can be judged only in those cases. It is just like case of a doctor who makes correct diagnosis when the disease is difficult to diagnose.
