NARRATION 3:-

we have another narration from Tafsir ibn Kathir

NARRATION 4

It is from Musnad Ahmad

[Musnad Ahmad, urdu version, 1/254]

Uthman called for water so that he could do ablution, so he put water in his mouth (for gargle) and then in his nose, and then washed his face thrice, and his hands thrice, then did masah/wiping on his head and apparent part of his foot, and then laughed. And said to his friends: Will you not ask me why i laughed? We asked: why did you laugh? he said: I saw Holy Prophet asws asking for water, and he did ablution like i have done near this place and then he laughed and asked his sahaba; Will you not ask me why i laughed? So we asked: why did you laugh o Prophet? he said: when a person performs ablution and washes his face, Allah clears his face from all sins, and when he washes his hands, allah does the same and when he does masah on head, it is like this, and when he cleans his feets, it is like this (that means sins are washed away)

Sheikh Shoaib ul Arnawut terms the narration Sahih with support of others, all the narrators are Thiqa and that of sheikhain except Muslim bin Yassar, and he is thiqa

[Musnad Ahmad, with research of Shiekh Shoaib, vol 1, page 474, narration 415]

a very similar narration is present in Musanif ibn abi Sheebah,

NARRATION 5

Let us see another narration

[Musnad Ahmad, urdu version, 1/281-282]

Basr says that Uthman came and asked for water of ablution. He rinsed his mouth and nose, then washed his face thrice, and then his hands thrice; then he did masah on his head and feet thrice. then he said: i saw Holy Prophet asws doing ablution like this. Those present asked him: Was it so? he said: yes

Shiekh Shoaib ul Arnawut says in his research on the Musnad

chain is hasan

[Musnad Ahmad, with research of sheikh shoaib, 1/523]

NARRATION 6

We find in Sunan Ibn Maja

[Sunan ibn Maja, urdu version, 1/408]

We were sitting with Holy Prophet asws when he said that your prayers are not complete till you have not ablution the way it is ordered by Allah. Wash your face and hands till elbows; and wipe/do masah on your head and feet till ankles

Researcher of the book, Hafiz Abu Tahir Zubair Ali Zai, terms it sahih sanad

Also included by Albany in Sahih Sunan Ibn Maja, 1/151; and he termed it Sahih

NARRATION 7

We similarly find in the same chapter of Musanif

Hamid said that Anas did Masah on his feet

both narrators are thiqa, Hamid has been charged with tadless though but there are shahid ahadeeth on this narration which we have seen in Narration 2 & 3

NARRATION 8

We find ibn Abbas saying in sahih sanad narration

Akrama said that ibn Abbass said that ablution has two washes (means face and arms) and two wipes/masah (means head and feet)

In chain of Tibri, we also find that this was said by Ibn Abbas that there are two washes and two wipes in ablution

[Tafsir Tibri, 6/175]

NARRATION 9

Let us see another narration, it is from Akrama

Akrama said that there are two washes (means face and hands) and two wipings/masah (means head and feet)

NARRATION 10

We find in Musanif ibn abi Sheebah

Sho’bi said that Jibrail came with order of Masah on feet

and a similar narration comes in Musanif Abdul Razaq

Sho’bi said that Jibrail came with order of Masah on feet

NARRATION 11

it may not be very authentic on the criteria of ahlusunnah, however, it is still good

We find in Sunan ibn Maja

Rabi’i says that ibn Abbas came to me and asked me about that narration, that means the narration in which it was said that Holy Prophet asws washed his feet when he did ablution. so i talked of it. so Ibn Abbas said: People speak of washing, but i do not find anything in Quran except masah

1- Sunan ibn Maja, urdu version, 1/407; Researcher of the book, Hafiz Abu Tahir Zubair Ali Zai , says in the footnotes that chain is weak, though termed Hasan by Boseri

2- Sahih sunan ibn Maja, Albany, 1/151; though included in Sahih, he rejected the saying of ibn Abbas

This narration is also present in Musanif ibn abi Sheebah with the following chain

All narrators in the chain are thiqa, except for Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Aqeel, there is weakening of him, which has made many reject the narration. There are however, some praise for him as well

like

Hakim had termed him thiqa and mamoon
Abu Esa Tirmidhi said sudooq though there is difference in him
Ibn Hajar said sudooq but lenient
Ibn Abdul bar said that he is thiqa amongst those in whom there is difference of opinion

But over all he is weakened by many.

But i have already given you narrations which are authentic in this regard
