Let us see an authentic narration from Sahih Bukhari

Narration in Bukhari says

The online English translation says

Volume 1, Book 8, Number 438 :

Narrated by ‘Ikrima
Ibn ‘Abbas said to me and to his son ‘Ali, “Go to Abu Sa’id and listen to what he narrates.” So we went and found him in a garden looking after it. He picked up his Rida’, wore it and sat down and started narrating till the topic of the construction of the mosque reached. He said, “We were carrying one adobe at a time while ‘Ammar was carrying two. The Prophet saw him and started removing the dust from his body and said, “May Allah be Merciful to ‘Ammar. He will be inviting them (i.e. his murderers, the rebellious group) to Paradise and they will invite him to Hell-fire.” ‘Ammar said, “I seek refuge with Allah from affliction.”

This reminds me of the verse of Quran

“And We made them imams who call towards the Fire.”

[Surat ul Qasas]

Anyways, this narration is not something which will be digested by ahlusunnah that easily. After all, mawia as per them was a sahabi; and how can they accept that he was calling to hell fire

Let us see what Ibn Hajar had to say about this narration

He writes

And he was killed in Siffen and he was with Ali asws, and those who killed him were those who were with Mawia, and he/mawia had a group of sahaba along with them, so how is it possible that they were calling to hell fire? The answer is that they presumed that they are calling to heaven, and they were Mujtahids, they cannot be blamed for following their conjectures. And the meaning of calling to heaven is that he was calling to the reason to it (that is, reason to going to heaven) and that was the obedience of Imam, and Ammar was calling them to obedience of Ali asws, and he was the Imam whose obedience was must there. And those who were calling on the contrary, they were excused as reason for them is evident

[Fath ul Bari, 1/701; first edition, 1421, printed by Dar us Salam, Riyadh]

Now you can see that this ijtihaad blanket is so great that even if they kill a sahabi, they can get excuse as has been said by Ibn Hajar

This is to our bad luck that even if we criticise a sahabi, nawasib demand that we should be killed for that, hanged, punished
They never say that We, Shias, are doing Ijtihaad and have a reason for criticising sahaba; and thus be excused.

But this protection is available to sahaba, they can kill, insult, do anything. No worries

But keep in mind that Ibn Hajar made a very good point; and that is:-

Imam Ali was the Imam whose obedience was must, and that obedience was the reason for going to heaven

And Mawia and his followers were definitely not obeying Imam Ali, the cause for entering heaven…………

Rather, as per the hadeeth, they were calling to hell fire

Though Ibn Hajar said

They were Mujtahids, and there is no blame on them on following their Zan/conjecturs

But when we read in Quran, we find in Surat Younas

And most of them do not follow (anything) but conjecture; surely conjecture will not avail aught against the truth; surely Allah is cognizant of what they do.

So Zan has no value against Haq

And Nawab Siddiq Hasan Qanoji had exposed Mawia when he said:

And Mawia did not wish for settlement in his fights with Ali asws, rather he wished for state/rule and this world, and he was with a nation who were not aware of known things, and who did not object to what should have been objected, so he deceived them with “asking for blood of uthman”

Imam Ali was on Haq in his fights; and Mawia did not fight but for the worldly gains: Qanoji « slave of Ahlubait’s Blog

We, Shi’aan-e-Haider-e-Karar are thankful to Almighty for making us follow the Imam whose obedience is must, and which is the cause of going to heaven

and not following those who called to hell fire

I had written an article in which I had shared research of Qari Faizi, the one who did Sharah/explanation of Khasais
and he proved that Mawia was a Rebel leader
