Nisai is one of the greatest scholars of Jarh o Tadeel in Ahlusunnah. Let us see how he performed this job

We refer to Tehzeeb ut Tehzeeb by Ibn Hajar

We find Ibn hajar writing about Ahmad bin Salih Misri on page 34 of vol 1, and He said

So he is a narrator of Bukhari, Abi Daood etc

Dhabi introduced him in the words in Sair Aalaam Nabala

Grand Imam, Hafiz of his time

Ibn Hajar mentioned his opinion in Taqreeb ut Tehzeeb like this

He was thiqa, Hafiz of his era. Nisai spoke ill of him due to illusions he had…..

This means he had some problems with Ahmad bin Salih, who was otherwise Thiqa and Grand Imam

Let us see what these were

Going back to Tehzeeb ut Tehzeeb, Ibn Hajar said

Khateeb said that All Aimmah/scholars have trusted Ahmad except for Nisai, and Khateeb said that this was his biggest Problem, and Nisai had this because of mistreatment he had received in Ahmad’s gathering. And that was the reason for the troubles between them

Ibn Hajar furhter writes

Abu Jafar Uqeeli said that Ahmad bin Salih wont narrate to anyone except that he was asked about it. Once Nisai came to him and there were people with him who did not belong to that place. Ahmad did not permit them and Nisai did not like it and in all the narrations Nisai had collected, He termed those ones wrong which were from Ibn Salih and he even spoke ill of those; though it did not affect Ibn Salih even a bit, because he was an Imam and Thiqa

[Tehzeeb ut Tehzeeb, 1/36]

So is this how a Grand Imam and Thiqa becomes rejected in view of Nisai???
