We would just see a few examples of How this man had killed people from the books of AhluSunnah.

.

We find in Musanif Abdul Razaq al Sana’ani

Abdul Razaq [1] said: I was told by Mu’mar [2] From Zuhri [3] From Salim [4] From Ibn Umar [5]: He said:-

Holy Prophet (asws) sent Khalid bin Walid to Tribe of Juzaima, to call them to Islam. These People could not express themselves by Saying Aslamna, so they said: Sabana Sabana. Khalid killed some of them, and took others as Captives. He said: He gave a man to everyone of us, and till He ordered us one day to kill those we captured. Ibn Umar said: I said: by God! I will not kill the one I captured, and my companions will not kill the one they captured. We met Holy Prophet (asws) and told Him What Khalid had done. So Prophet (asws) raised his hands, and said: O Allah! I do Bara’at (I am free of) What Kalid has done,  O Allah! I do Bara’at (I am free of) What Kalid has done [6]

.

Similarly, We find in the same book

.

Zuhri said that Abu Qaataada [7] said:

“During Reda (days), we marched to Ahl Abyaat and reached there at sunset, then we raised our spears, hence they asked: ‘Who are you?’ We replied: ‘We are slaves of Allah.’ They said: ‘We are slaves of Allah too.’ Then Khalid arrested them and when it was morning he ordered their beheading. Then I said: ‘Oh Khalid! Fear Allah, this is not allowed for you.’ He (Khalid) replied: ‘Stay (back); this is not your business.’ Then Abu Quatadah swore by Allah never to march with Khalid for any war. Quatadah said:’The desert Arabs encouraged him (Khalid) on killing them for the sake of booties and that was Malik bin Nuwayrah’s case.'” [8]

.

In fact, Abu Qataada had told this incident to Abu Bakar as well, , though he covered up for Khalid saying it was a mistake. We find in Tareekh Khalifa bin Khayat

.

Ali bin Muhammad [9] from Abi Da’eb [10] from Zuhari from Salim from his father [11] that he said:

Abu Qataada came to Abu Bakr and informed him of the murder of Malik and his companions, hence he (Abu Bakr) became extremely aggrieved. Abu Bakr then wrote (a message) to Khalid, and he (Khalid) came to him. Abu Bakr said: ‘Can it be more than Khalid interpreted and made a mistake? Then Abu Bakr sent Khalid back and paid blood money for Malik bin Nuwayrah and returned the booty. [12]

.

This narration, which is connected till Sahabi with Trustworthy narrators, prove that it was done by Khalid and he took the blood money which was returned.
