At times, I have came across people who would try to mock Shias for those Miracles/Paranormal activities which have been shown by A’immah-e-Ahlubait (asws). Let us see what their Scholars have written in regards to Paranormal activities, and if they can occur for those who are Non-Prophets.

Ibn Taimiyyah, one of the Nasibi Scholars, writes in his Majmo’o-al-Fatawa, 3/156

وَمِنْ أُصُولِ أَهْلِ السُّنَّةِ وَالْجَمَاعَةِ: التَّصْدِيقُ بِكَرَامَاتِ الْأَوْلِيَاءِ وَمَا يُجْرِي اللَّهُ عَلَى أَيْدِيهِمْ مِنْ خَوَارِقِ الْعَادَاتِ فِي أَنْوَاعِ الْعُلُومِ وَالْمُكَاشَفَاتِ وَأَنْوَاعِ الْقُدْرَةِ وَالتَّأْثِيرَاتِ كَالْمَأْثُورِ عَنْ سَالِفِ الْأُمَمِ فِي سُورَةِ الْكَهْفِ وَغَيْرِهَا وَعَنْ صَدْرِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ مِنْ الصَّحَابَةِ وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَسَائِرِ قُرُونِ الْأُمَّةِ وَهِيَ مَوْجُودَةٌ فِيهَا إلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

And in the fundamental beliefs of Ahlu Sunnat wa al-Juma’at: is the acceptance/verification of Glories of Au’lia, which Allah carries out on their hands which are Paranormal in regards to Different fields, and detection of things, and different powers and their effects, as has been said in Past Nations like in Surat-ul-Kahf etc, and in start of this Nation in Companions of Prophet (asws), and those who Saw them, and those who would come later, and it will be present till day of Qayamat.

 

Mohammad bin Khaleel bin Haras explains this sentence in his Sharah-al Aqeeda-tul-Wastiyya, and writes
والكرامة أمر خارق للعادة ، يجريه الله على يد ولي من أوليائه ؛ معونة له على أمر ديني أو دنيوي . 

ويفرق بينها وبين المعجزة بأن المعجزة تكون مقرونة بدعوى الرسالة ، بخلاف الكرامة . 

And Karamat is a Paranormal activity, which Allah carries out on hand of His Wali amongst Aulia, which helps him in acts of Religion or Worldly affair

And the difference between it(Karamat) and Mu’jaza(Miracle) is that Mu’jaza is coupled with Claim for Prophethood, which is not the case in Karamat

 

He also writes

 ولم تزل الكرامات موجودة لم تنقطع في هذه الأمة إلى يوم القيامة ، والمشاهدة أكبر دليلا . 

And Karamat will not end in this Nation till day of Qayamat, and observation is the greatest proof for it

 

And Abdullah bin Mohammad Ghaneman writes in his Sharah al Aqeeda tul Wastiyya, 30/10 after writing that It will be there till day of Qayamat that

 المقصود ما يحدث لأفراد الأمة من الصحابة والتابعين وأتباعهم إلى يوم القيامة من الكرامات، وسميت كرامة لأنه يكرم بها، لأنها تقع إما لحاجته لنفسه أو أهله، أو لحاجته إلى تثبيت الإيمان في قلبه، أو للدعوة حتى تثبت أن دعوته على حق.

What it means is, what will happen for the people of of this Nation amongst Sahaba, Taba’een and those who will follow him, till day of Qayamat from the Glories/Karamat. And it is called Karamat/glory because they have been glorified with that, as it occurs due to their need for themselves or family, or a need to strengthen their faith in heart, or to prove their claim till they prove their claim to be true

 

Sheikh Ghaneman in his other book, Al Sabaik al Dhabiyya, p. 477 has explained that Al Karamat is a name given by People of later era. In the early times of Tabaeen and those of that time, it was called Ayat. But later on, difference was made, and Paranormal act by Prophet was called Mu’jaza, and that which occurred for Non-Prophet was called Karamat
