Ibn Abdul Bar mentions in His al-Isthidhkar, 1/185

Ibn Abbas narrates from Holy Prophet (asws) that He said: When any of You paases by grave of His Brother whom He knew in This world, and greets him, He recognizes him and replies greeting

Ibn Taimiyya does not like this, and tempers it in the following Manner. He mentions in his Majm’o al Fatawa, 1/351

Ibn Abdul Bar mentions from Prophet (asws) that He said: When any Man passes by Grave of a Man whom He knew in this world, and greets Him; Allah returns His soul till He returns the greeting.

Of course, wordings have been changed, and parts have been added. Ibn Qayyam follows suit, and writes in Bada’i al Fawaid, 2/173-174

Ibn Abdul Bar mentions that it is Proven from Prophet (asws) that He said: When a Man passes by Grave of His brother, whom he knew in this world, Allah returns His soul till He replies the greetings
