Nasibi website tried to refute my post.  I will copy paste what they have presented on their site. This includes What I had written (Coloured different), and how they respond(Coloured black). Let us see

Ibn ‘Umar reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said two rak’ahs at Mina, and Abu Bakr after him, and ‘Umar after Abu Bakr, and ‘Uthman at the beginning of his caliphate; then ‘Uthman observed four rak’ahs, and when Ibn ‘Umar prayed with the Imam, he said four rak’ahs, but when he observed prayer alone, he said two rak’ahs.

Similar narration is there in Musanif ibn abi sheebah Why was Ibn Umar offering two rakahs when alone? and four rakahs when with Uthman? When he knew that it was two rakahs????

The answer is as Ibn Umar said in an authentic narration in Sunan Abi Dawud at the end of this narration, which is that “disunity is bad.”

Narration of Saheeh Muslim is very clear that Holy Prophet (asws) offered Two Rakat prayer in Mina. And This was followed by Abu Bakr, then Umar and even by Uthman in early part of His Caliphate. Then Uthman started offering 4 Rakat prayer. Ibn Umar would offer 2 Rakat prayer when He was alone, Just like What Holy Prophet (asws) had done. But He would offer 4 Rakat prayer when He was with Imam.

And Nasibis say that He did that because Disunity is bad.

Are they trying to say that One should go against Teachings of Holy Prophet (asws) in order to avoid disunity???

Also, they pointed to Authentic Narration of Sunan Abi Daood, where in Ibn Umar had said that Disunity is bad. They did not give any specific reference to that Narration. It would be great if They give us exact reference. However, I think that the Narration they are pointing to, is in Sunan Abi Daood, Kitab-ul-Manasik, Book Salat/Prayer in Mina, 4/460 (Again I say, it would be better if they can give exact reference)

Online Translation states:-

Narrated ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Zaid:
‘Uthman prayed four rak’ahs at Mina. ‘Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) said: I prayed two rak’ahs along with the Prophet (ﷺ) and two rak’ahs along with ‘Umar. The version of Hafs added: And along with ‘Uthman during the early period of his caliphate. He (‘Uthman) began to offer complete prayer (i.e. four rak’ahs) later on. The version of Abu Mu’awiyah added: Then your modes of action varied. I would like to pray two rak’ahs acceptable to Allah instead of four rak’ahs.

Al-A’mash said: Mu’awiyah b. Qurrah reported to me from his teachers: ‘Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) once prayed four rak’ahs. He was told: You criticized ‘Uthman but you yourself prayed four ? He replied: Dissension is evil.

Now

IF this is the Narration they are trying to Present, then there are Two Issues.

First, It is NOT by Ibn Umar, rather it is by Abdullah ibn Mas’ood, as mentioned by Online Translators. Also, Salafi Scholars, Allama Waheed-uz-Zaman and Abu Ammar Umar Farooq in Their Translations of Sunan Abi Daood, wrote “Abdullah ibn Mas’ood”. See Their translations, 2/68 & 2/514 {These are two different Translations, and reference given is for same Narration}

Second, It is a combination of Different Chains. It starts with

حدثنا مسدد أن أبا معاوية وحفص بن غياث حدثاه وحديث أبي معاوية أتم عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد

But the point they are referring too, It comes like this

قال الأعمش فحدثني معاوية بن قرة عن أشياخه أن عبد الله صلى أربعا

Al-A’mash said: Mu’awiyah b. Qurrah reported to me from his teachers: ‘Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) once prayed four rak’ahs……

Ibn Qurrah has not clarified whom in His Teachers He is talking about.

But the point remains

Can anyone go against the Teachings of Holy Prophet (asws) just for the sake of Unity?

disunity
