Umar ibn Sa’ad was leader of the army which martyred Imam Hussein (asws). Ibn Hajr writes in His Tehzeeb-ut-Tehzeeb, 7/450

I’jli said that He narrated from His father, and People narrated from him, and he is Tabae’e and Trustworthy, and he is the one who killed Imam Hussein

Ibn Abi Kheethma narrated with his chain that Ibn Ziyad sent Umar bin sa’ad with army for killing Imam Hussein

Famous Salafi website, Islamweb fatwa center was asked this Question

We know that Ibn Taimiyya said: (Curse of Allah be on who killed Imam Hussein, and those who helped in his killing, and those who agree to his killing). So if they are cursed, how can they be trustworthy in Narrations? Is it not that Curse of Allah means that they are Liars, Kafirs, and their Narrations not to be accepted?

They replied:-

Yes, Ibn Taimiyya called that Imam Hussein was martyred oppressed. And His killers were cruel and had crossed limits. And at another place he said: Who killed Imam Hussein, or helped in his killing, or agreed with that, Curse of Allah, His angels, and all people be on on. Allah will not accept their Good deeds.

So Narrations in such state are not accepted. As they are not JUST. And Justice is prerequisite in accepting Narrations

They further write

And Aimmah have explained to refuse the Narrations of killers of Imam Hussein. Abi Abi Kheethma mentioned in his Tareekh: I heard Yahya ibn Maeen say: Umar bin Saaed bin Abi Waqas Kufi, I asked him: is He trustworthy? Ibn Maeed replied: How can he be trustworthy when he is killer of Imam Hussein?

And Dhabi wrote in His biography: He was in himself not criticized but he proceeded for killing of Imam Hussein, and did things….And Ahmad bin Zuhair askd Ibn Maeen if he was trustworthy? So he replied: how can killer of Imam Hussein be trustworthy.

And He said in biography of Shimr in Meezan-ul-A’tadal, He was not in people from whom to take Narrations, as he was one of those who killed Imam Hussein

Interestingly, Narrations of Umar ibn Saad are present in books of AhluSunnah. Imam Ahmad mentions in his Musnad, 3/105

Umar ibn Saad narrates from Saad bin Abi Waqas that Holy Prophet said: Killing Muslim is Kufr, and insulting him is sin. And it is not allowed for a Muslim to be away from his brother for more than three days

Sheikh Shoaib al-Arnawut termed the Chain Hasan. Where as Sheikh Ahmad Shakir termed the Chain Saheeh in His research upon Musnad Ahmad, 2/243

Strange

On one side, they say their Narrations are rejected. While on other hand, Their chains are termed Authentic

To add to this more, If you consult Tafsir Dur-e-Manthur, 6/711, Printed by Dar-ul-Fikr, Beirut, We find

Great…….RaziAllah Unho for Umar ibn Saad???
