Let us share a narration from al-Muntakhib min Musnad Abd bin Hameed, 2/360, research by Sheikh Mustafa A’dwi

Ayesha narrated: Prayers were made obligatory upon Holy Prophet consisting of two rak’at in Mecca, but When He went to Madina, four Rak’at were made obligatory. But two rakat were retained in journey. So Zuhri asked Urwa: What made Ayesha complete the prayers in Journey when we know that Allah made two rakat compulsory? He replied: She interpretated like Uthman when He completed prayers in Mina.

Researcher stated that Narration is authentic. Similar narrations are present in Sahih Bukhari, 2/44, Narration 1090 & Sahih Muslim, 1/478, Narration 685

Narration is evident that She interpreted against what Allah made compulsory

Please keep in mind that regarding Uthman, Allama Wahid-uz-Zaman writes in His explanation of Sahih Bukhari, named, Sharah Taiseer al-Bari, 2/138

This was the opinion of Uthman which is totally against the clear Sunnah, and cannot be accepted.
