Let us share a Narration from Tabaqat Ibn Sa’ad, 4/243

قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَجِيرَ ابْنِ عَفَّانَ وَابْنَةِ غَزْوَانَ بِطَعَامِ بَطْنِي وَعُقْبَةِ رِجْلِي أَسُوقُ بِهِمْ إِذَا رَكِبُوا وَأَخْدُمُهُمْ إِذَا نَزَلُوا. فَقَالَتْ لِي يَوْمًا: لَتَرِدَنَّهُ حَافِيًا وَلَتَرْكَبَنَّهُ قَائِمًا.
فَزَوَّجَنِيهَا اللَّهُ بَعْدُ فَقُلْتُ: لَتَرِدِنَّهُ حَافِيَةً وَلَتَرْكَبِنَّهُ قَائِمَةً. Read the rest of this entry »

Ibn Umar narrates in Saheeh al-Bukhari

رقم الحديث: 2659
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا أبو اليمان ، أخبرنا شعيب ، عن الزهري ، قال : أخبرني سالم بن عبد الله ، أن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما ، قال : سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، يقول : ” إنما الشؤم في ثلاثة في الفرس والمرأة والدار ” .

Ibn Umar says: I heard Holy Prophet (asws) saying: Bad omen is in Three; Horse, Woman and House.

Let us see few narrations in this regard. We find in Musnad Ahmad

 حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْقَارِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: لَا وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ مَا أَنَا قُلْتُ: ” مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا فَلَا يَصُومُ ” مُحَمَّدٌ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ قَالَهُ، مَا أَنَا نَهَيْتُ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ، مُحَمَّدٌ نَهَى عَنْهُ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ

Abu huraira said that I swear by the lord of this House! I did not say that whosoever makes it to morning in state of janabat/impurity, he should not fast; rather I swear by the lord of this house! This was said by Mohammad (asws). And I did not forbid fasting on Friday, rather I swear by the lord of this house, Mohammad (asws) forbid that.

Translator of the Urdu version, Molvi Zafar says This Narration is sahih as per ibn Khuzaima, and Sheikh Albany

Sheikh Albany actually mentions this Narration in His Silsila Ahadeeth as-Sahihiyya, 3/11, and says that This Sanad/Chain is Sahih, and Narrators are trustworthy.

Sheikh Shoaib al-Arnawut says Sahih. [Musnad Ahmad, with research of Sheikh Shoaib, 12/347]

This Narration tells us that Abu Huraira was telling People about a Narration, and He was so much sure about it that He promised by the “Lord of This House” that Holy Prophet said that.

Let us see another Narration

 وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ” إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ، صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، وَأَحَدُكُمْ جُنُبٌ، فَلَا يَصُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ” 

(abu Huraira said that) Holy Prophet asws said that if someone hears adhan of morning Prayer, and he is in state of janabat, he should not fast that day

[Musnad Ahmad, urdu version, vol 4,page 273]

Sheikh Shoaib al-Arnawut says Chain is Sahih on terms of Bukhari and Muslim [ Musnamd Ahmad, 13/490]

This narration is also there in al-Ihsan ba Tarteeb Sahih ibn Hibban [ vol 8, page 261, Narration 3485] and Sheikh Shoaib had termed it Sahih as per Sheikhain’s criteria

We clearly find him saying that “Holy Prophet said”. Though here he is not taking oath on “Lord of This House”

Let us see another Narration from Musnad Ahmad.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَتَّابٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: مَنْ أَصْبَحَ جُنُبًا، فَلَا صَوْمَ لَهُ. قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلَنِي مَرْوَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ – أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ (1) آخَرَ – إِلَى عَائِشَةَ، وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، نَسْأَلُهُمَا عَنِ الْجُنُبِ يُصْبِحُ فِي رَمَضَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا: ” قَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ، وَيُتِمُّ صِيَامَ يَوْمِهِ “. قَالَ: وَقَالَتِ الْأُخْرَى: ” كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَحْتَلِمَ، ثُمَّ يُتِمُّ صَوْمَهُ “، قَالَ: فَرَجَعَا، فَأَخْبَرَا مَرْوَانَ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: أَخْبِرْ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ بِمَا قَالَتَا فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: كَذَا كُنْتُ أَحْسَبُ، وَكَذَا كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهُ مَرْوَانُ: بِأَظُنُّ وَبِأَحْسَبُ تُفْتِي النَّاسَ

Abdur rehman bin Atab says that abu Huraira use to say that if someone make it to morning in state of impurity, his fast is not valid. Once Marwan bin Hakam sent me and another man to Ayesha and umm Salma to ask if someone makes it to morning in Ramadan month in state of impurity and has not taken bath, what is the order for him? One of them said that sometimes, Holy Prophet asws would be in state of impurity at morning, and then take bath and complete the fast. And other one replied that sometimes Holy Prophet asws would be in state of impurity intentionally without having a dream, and he would make it to morning and complete his fast. We came back and told this to Marwan. He said to inform abu huraira about this. Abu Huraira said that I thought so or I presumed so. Marwan said that you give fatwas to people on your presumptions,

Sheikh Hamza says isnaad sahih

Sheikh Shoaib termed this Narration as Sahih. [ Musnad Ahmad, 42/327 ]

There is another narration like this one with different sanad, and there we even find that abu Huraira then stopped from giving his opinion. [11/614 (urdu version, Musnad Ahmad)]

Let us see another Narration from Musnad Ahmad.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ” مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ الصُّبْحُ جُنُبًا، فَلَا صَوْمَ لَهُ ” قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي، فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، وَعَائِشَةَ: فَسَأَلْنَاهُمَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَأَخْبَرَتَانَا ” أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ حُلُمٍ (3) ، ثُمَّ يَصُومُ ” فَلَقِينَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، فَحَدَّثَهُ أَبِي، فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، وَهُنَّ أَعْلَمُ

Abu bakar bin abdur Rehman says that I heard abu Huraira saying that Holy Prophet asws said that whosoever makes it to morning in state of impurity, his fast wont be valid. After some time, I met Ayesha and bibi umm Salma alongwith my father. They said that holy prophet asws would make it to morning in state of janabat/impurity and still fast that day. When we met abu huraira, my father told him about this narration. So his facial expressions changed. And he said that this was told to me by Fadal bin Abbas though wives of Holy Prophet asws know more.

Sheikh Shoaib says chain is sahih on condition of sheikhain [44/243/26630]

So We find that He puts the blame on Fadal ibn Abbas, who was Himself a Sahabi/Companion of Holy Prophet. Apparently He was not alive when This Question Answer session was taking place as He had died in era of Abu Bakar (or Umar as per some) [al-Isaba, 5/288]. And I am not aware if someone else has narrated This from Fadal in the manner Abu Huraira was narrating.

But let us give him benefit of doubt, and “Accept” what He is saying about Fadal; What about the promises he was making in the starting Narration? What about those People who had not fasted thinking that Holy Prophet had forbidden it?

Though an intellectual mind would also think on the lines that if His words cannot be trusted when He is making promises, How can His words be trusted about Fadal or other places.

Let us see a Narration from Mustadrak Imam Hakim

 

3327 – أخبرني أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد المزكي بمرو ثنا عبد الله بن روح المدايني ثنا يزيد بن هارون أنبأ هشام بن حسان عن محمد بن سيرين عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال : قال لي عمر : يا عدو الله و عدو الإسلام خنت مال الله قال : قلت لست عدو الله و لا عدو الإسلام و لكني عدو من عاداهما و لم أخن مال الله و لكنها أثمان إبلي و سهام اجتمعت قال فأعادها علي و أعدت عليه هذا الكلام قال فغرمني اثني عشر ألفا قال : فقمت في صلاة الغداة فقلت : اللهم اغفر لأمير المؤمنين فلما كان بعد ذلك أرادني على العمل فأبيت عليه فقال : و لم و قد سأل يوسف العمل و كان خيرا منك ؟ فقلت : إن يوسف نبي ابن نبي ابن نبي ابن نبي و أنا ابن أميمة و أنا أخاف ثلاثا و اثنتين قال : أو لا تقول خمسا ؟ قلت : لا قال : فما هن ؟ قلت : أخاف أن أقول بغير علم و أن أفتي علم و أن يضرب ظهري و أن يشتم عرضي و أن يؤخذ مالي بالضرب
هذا حديث صحيح بإسناد على شرط الشيخين و لم يخرجاه

Some time back, We just mentioned this narration

Shiekh Albani mentions

” عن أبي رزين قال ثم رأيت أبا هريرة يضرب جبهته بيده ويقول يا أهل العراق أنتم تزعمون أني أكذب على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ليكون لكم المهنأ وعلى الإثم أشهد لسمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول إذا ولغ الكلب في إناء أحدكم فليغسله سبع مرات “.

Abu Rizin said that I saw abu Huraira hitting his head with his hand  and saying

O people of Iraq! You think that I lie upon holy Prophet asws so that it gets easy for you; I testify that I heard Prophet asws say that when a dog licks a vessel , wash it 7 times

Now, Nawasib could not digest the truth, and they replied
