Famous Salafi website, islamweb fatwa center was asked This Question

أرجو شرح هذا الكلام, ففي منة المنعم في شرح صحيح مسلم للمباركفوري في الجزء الرابع ص83 يقول التالي: العصمة واجبة في حق الأنبياء, ممكنة في حق غيرهم

Please explain to me this statement, it comes in Munt-ul-Muni’im Fi Sharah Saheeh Muslim bin Mubarakfori, 4/83, that Infallibility is Must for Prophets and possible for others etc

As if it was not enough, Ibn Abi Hatim took another step, and said in his al-Jarh wa al-Ta’deel, 1/7

 فشرفهم الله عز وجل ، بما من عليهم وأكرمهم به من وضعه إياهم موضع القدوة ، فنفى عنهم الشك والكذب ، والغلط والريبة والغمز ، وسماهم عدول الأمة ، فقال عز ذكره في محكم كتابه : وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ سورة البقرة آية 143 ، ففسر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، عن الله عز ذكره ، قوله : وَسَطًا سورة البقرة آية 143 قال : عدلا.

Salam

Recently, I came across an accusation regarding a sermon of Imam Ali asws where in Nawasib tried to cast doubts on Infallibility

We see what they wrote

In his Khutbah recorded in Nahj-Al Balaghah # 216, Ali RA Said:

فلا تكفوا عن مقالة بحق ، أو بعدل مشورة ، فإني لست في نفسي بفوق أن أخطىء ، ولا آمن ذلك من فعلي

“Do not evade me as the people of passion are (to be) evaded, do not meet me with flattery and do not think that I shall take it ill if a true thing is said to me, because the person who feels disgusted when truth is said to him or a just matter is placed before him would find it more difficult to act upon them. Don’t stop saying the Truth, or Just Advice, As I am not above making Mistakes, and I am not safe from making Mistakes in my Actions”.

Sheikh Sudooq was asked in a gathering by those present and others, to introduce Imamia in summarized form, and He said:-

دين الإمامية هو الإقرار بتوحيد الله تعالى ذكره ونفي التشبيه عنه ، وتنزيهه عما لا يليق به ، والإقرار بأنبياءالله ورسله وحججه وملائكته وكتبه ، والإقرار بأن محمداً(ص)هو سيد الأنبياءوالمرسلين ، وأنه أفضل منهم ومن جميع الملائكة المقربين ، وأنه خاتم النبيين ، فلا نبي بعده إلى يوم القيامة ، وإن جميع الأنبياءوالرسل والأئمة^أفضل من الملائكة ، وأنهم معصومون مطهرون من كل دنس ورجس، لا يهمون بذنب صغير ولا كبير ولا يرتكبونه، وأنهم أمان لأهل الأرض كما أن النجوم أمان لأهل السماء.

Religion of Imamia…..It is acceptance of Oneness of Allah, and negating similarity to him, and what is not deserving of Him…..and acceptance of Prophets of Allah and His Messengers, and His Proofs and Angels and Books. And Accepting that Mohammad asws, He is Chief of Prophets and Messengers, and He is the greatest of them, and all of angels, and he is the last Prophet. There will be no Prophet after him till day of Qayamat. And all Prophets and Messengers and Aimmah, they are greater than Angels, and they are Infallibles and Purified from filthiness and abomination, they do not sin, whether minor or major. And they are protection for People of Earth as stars are protection for people of sky.

Allah says in verse of purification

إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا

Allah only desires to keep away the AL-RIJIS from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.


so, let us see in which senses, Allah has used this word in Quran. and what scholars of ahlusunnah have to say in this regard



VERSE 1:-




Allah says in Quran:-


{ فَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُ لِلإِسْلَٰمِ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُ ضَيِّقاً حَرَجاً كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَذٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ }



Therefore (for) whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and (for) whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrowas though he were ascending upwards;thus does Allah lay uncleanness (Rijis) on those who do not believe.

Allah’s command in this verse:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَطِيعُواْ اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

[4:59] O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and the possessors of the Amr among you.

Allah (تبارك و تعالى) has mentioned the same “obey” for the Prophet and these possessors of the Amr. They are to be obeyed unconditionally, as the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). They will always be a possession of the Amr from Quraysh on the earth.

great sunni scholar qazi thana ullah pani pati writes in his tafsir mazhari, urdu version, in tafsir of surat aal-e-imran, verse 36, about infallibity of bibi fatima asws and her progeny by giving the heading

حضرت فاطمہ (ع) کی عصمت اور ان کی اولاد

infallibility of bibi fatima and her progeny

he  then writes


میں (قاضی صاحب ) کہتا ہوں یہ درست ہے کہ رسول اللہ (ص) نے حضرت فاطمہ (ع) کے بارے میں بھی کہا جبکہ آپ (ع) شادی حضرت علی (ع) سے کی اے اللہ میں اسے اور اس کی اولاد کو شیطان کے شر سے تیری پناہ میں دیتا ہوں .اسی طرح حضرت علی (ع) سے فرمایا جسے ابن حبان نے حضرت انس سے روایت کیا ، حضور (ص) کی دعا حضرت عمران کی بیوی سے زیادہ قبولیت کے لائق ہے ، میں آپ (ع) کی اور آپ (ع) کی اولاد کی شیطان مردود کے چھونے سے محفوظ ہونے کی امید رکھتا ہوں

4617 – أخبرنا أبو أحمد محمد بن محمد الشيباني من أصل كتابه ثنا علي بن سعيد بن بشير الرازي بمصر ثنا الحسن بن حماد الحضرمي ثنا يحيى بن يعلي ثنا بسام الصيرفي عن الحسن بن عمرو الفقيمي عن معاوية بن ثعلبة عن أبي ذر رضي الله عنه قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : من أطاعني فقد أطاع الله و من عصاني فقد عصي الله و من أطاع عليا فقد أطاعني و من عصي عليا فقد عصاني
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد و لم يخرجاه
